Matthew Wesley Smith, having recently returned from a thirteen year stay in the heart of Europe, has studied the classical guitar for the past nine years. Despite his youth, 17 year-old Matthew has been exposed to high standards of excellence, and has himself advanced to the national round in the Czech Republic with excellent results. In addition, he has been privileged to participate in master classes taught by Christopher Parkening, Zoran Dukic, Cristina Azuma, and Pavel Steidl.
For anyone who desires to learn to play or further improve, this encouraging environment is sure to be a positive investment. Using traditional European methods, Matthew is uniquely equipped to instruct both the young, budding guitarist as well as the more advanced musician. He uses a supportive and student-centered approach.
A complementary, introductory lesson is available for those considering this option. Lessons may be taken from 30 to 90 minute periods once or twice a week. Rates begin at 15 dollars per 45 minutes. Classes are offered in Bloomfield Hills (14 mile and Telegraph) and in Berkley (12 mile and Greenfield). A child's beginner guitar may be provided at no extra cost for those just getting started.
